Israeli Airstrikes Kill 17 in Southern Lebanon, Including Two Infants

At least 17 people, including two infants, have been killed and another 20 injured in Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon over the past 48 hours, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency. In Kafr Rouman in Nabatieh Governorate, an Israeli strike destroyed a three-story residential building, with emergency teams recovering nine bodies from the rubble, including two infants. Five people were also injured in the attack. In a separate strike, an Israeli drone targeted a civilian vehicle in the same town, killing two paramedics affiliated with the Islamic Risala Scout Association.
Israeli warplanes also struck areas including Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Arabsalim, destroying a house, while another building was demolished in Deir al-Zahrani after Israeli forces had issued an evacuation order. The attacks come amid continued Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon and what Lebanese officials describe as repeated violations of a US-brokered framework agreement.
Lebanese Minister of State for Administrative Reform Fadi Makki has urged the international community and people around the world to take effective action to stop Israel’s attacks and what he described as violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty. Makki condemned the killing of civilians, including women and children, and the destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure in towns such as Mayfadoun, Ramadiyeh, Nabatieh and Arabsalim. He also condemned the recent Israeli strike on Salah Ghandour Hospital in Bint Jbeil, calling it a grave example of what he described as the brutality of the Israeli military.
