After Natanz, Another Iranian Facility at Risk? Trump Issues Strong Warning

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that the United States could target Pickaxe Mountain if suspicious activity continues at the highly fortified site near Iran’s Natanz nuclear complex.

According to Reuters, Trump made the remarks while addressing a Republican midterm convention, urging Tehran to exercise caution after saying that activity had been detected at the site.

Trump warned Iran against making what he described as any “clever move”, saying Washington would respond forcefully if Tehran took such action.

Pickaxe Mountain Under US Watch

Pickaxe Mountain is located near Iran’s major nuclear facility at Natanz and contains highly protected underground infrastructure, including two tunnel complexes built deep inside the mountain.

The site is considered particularly difficult to target because of the depth and fortified nature of its underground facilities.

Iran’s Natanz nuclear installation has already suffered significant damage in recent attacks, increasing concerns over the security of the country’s remaining nuclear infrastructure.

Trump Has Repeatedly Threatened Site

Trump has previously threatened to strike Pickaxe Mountain, with warnings emerging as early as mid-July.

His latest remarks indicate that Washington continues to closely monitor Iranian underground nuclear and military facilities and is paying particular attention to activity that it considers suspicious.

The warning comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, with the possibility of further strikes against deeply buried Iranian facilities adding another potential flashpoint to the confrontation.

Any direct US attack on Pickaxe Mountain could represent a major escalation, given the strategic importance of the site and the possibility of a significant Iranian response.
