Hina Javed Murder Case; Family Raises Serious Concerns Over Police Investigation

RAWALPINDI: The family of Hina Javed, who was brutally murdered in Rawalpindi, has raised serious concerns over the ongoing police investigation and urged authorities to transfer the case to an independent investigation team.

Hina Javed’s brother, Fahad Javed, has written a letter to the chairman of the National Commission for Human Rights, expressing fears that the investigation may not be proceeding in accordance with the First Information Report (FIR).

The family has also sent letters to the Ministry of Law and Justice and the relevant parliamentary caucus committee, seeking intervention and a transparent investigation into the murder.

According to the letter, the family fears that efforts are being made to conceal the truth and that the direction of the investigation is being shifted away from the main accused and toward a domestic employee.

Family Questions Handling of Evidence

The family has raised questions over the preservation and collection of crucial evidence in the case.

According to the letter, messages between Hina Javed and her sister were deleted from the victim’s mobile phone.

The family also alleged that a blood-stained sheet recovered from the crime scene was handed over to Hina’s father-in-law instead of being properly secured by police.

The family further questioned why the mobile phone and laptop of the main accused, Faisal Asghar, had allegedly not been taken into custody for forensic examination.

It also alleged that the web activity of the mobile phones belonging to the main accused and the domestic employee had not been subjected to forensic analysis.

Questions Over Main Accused

The family expressed concern that no clear motive for Hina Javed’s murder had yet been established.

It also alleged that the main accused had not been subjected to sufficient scrutiny and that no significant recovery had so far been made from Faisal Asghar’s possession.

Questions were also raised over what the family described as an inadequate search of the main accused’s room.

The family further alleged that Hina’s father-in-law, who has been nominated in the case, was being given unnecessary concessions during the investigation.

Important Witnesses Yet to Be Recorded

According to the letter, statements of several potentially important witnesses have not yet been recorded.

These reportedly include domestic workers, the driver, the accused’s brother Kamil, neighbours and other individuals who may have information relevant to the case.

The family has also expressed serious concern over delays in receiving DNA and other forensic reports from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.

Family Seeks Independent Investigation

The family has demanded that the forensic reports be obtained without further delay and that all electronic devices belonging to the main accused and the domestic employee undergo immediate forensic examination.

It has also called for all relevant evidence to be properly secured and examined in accordance with forensic procedures.

The family described Hina Javed’s murder as a brutal act and said it was awaiting justice.

In its appeal to the authorities, the family called for the investigation to be transferred to an independent investigative team, arguing that only a transparent and impartial probe could establish the facts and ensure accountability.

The allegations raised by the family are part of their formal requests for further investigation and have not, in themselves, established criminal liability. The investigation and forensic findings will ultimately determine the facts of the case.
