Ishaq Dar, Hungarian Counterpart Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties at UNGA

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met his Hungarian counterpart, Foreign Minister Anita Orbán, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Ishaq Dar congratulated Anita Orbán on assuming her office and conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure.

The two foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Hungary relations and expanding cooperation in political, economic, trade and investment, business, education and people-to-people sectors.

Both sides emphasised the importance of convening regular bilateral consultative mechanisms to maintain momentum in engagement between Pakistan and Hungary.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments and discussed matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means of addressing international challenges.

He also stressed the importance of all parties returning to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a means of addressing outstanding issues through diplomatic engagement.

The two sides agreed to remain in close contact on bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest and continue efforts to deepen cooperation between Pakistan and Hungary.
