11 Martyred in Dera Ismail Khan Suicide Blast, 18 Workers Abducted in Duki

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: According to initial reports, At least 11 people were martyred and a number of others injured in a supposed suicide car bomb attack aiming a police checkpost in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As per Rescue 1122 and police statement, an explosives-laden motor vehicle knock against into the checkpost, initiating a powerful explosion. The victims involved six police personnel, two Customs officials, two women and a two-year-old child.

Some police and Customs personnel were also hurt in the attack. Rescue officials stated that the injured were given medical treatment before being moved to nearby hospitals. Some of those hurt were purportedly in serious state, raising fears that the death toll could increase.

Following the blast, a huge number of security forces and law enforcement personnel get hold of the scene. Authorities secured the area and began a search and clearance operation. The checkpost directed in the attack was reportedly being used to stop smuggling, sources said.

For the meantime, in another incident in Duki district, armed attackers raided a road construction camp in Nana Sahib Ziarat and took 18 workers away.

As per sources reports, the invaders exchanged fire with security guards during the attack, killing one guard and seriously injuring another. The attackers then took 18 construction workers from the camp and fled.

Security forces have launched a search operation to locate the abducted workers and track down the attackers. Duki is located around 315 kilometres northeast of Quetta.
