Bahawalpur NA-168 By-Election: Polling Underway

Karachi: Voting in the NA-168 by-election started at 8 am and will remain open without a break until 5 pm, as 483,000 voters are expected to exercise their right to vote.

A total of 292 polling stations have been set up in the constituency, of which 16 have been declared sensitive, according to the election administration.

More than 3,000 police personnel and officers have been deployed for security during the polling, while personnel from the Pakistan Army and Rangers will also perform security duties.

The by-election is between PML-N’s Malik Munir Iqbal Chanar and independent candidate Walidad Cheema.

Walidad Cheema is the son of former federal minister and member of the National Assembly Tariq Bashir Cheema, while PML-N candidate Malik Munir Iqbal Chanar is the son of former member of the assembly Malik Iqbal Chanar, whose death vacated the seat.

The administration has made effective security arrangements during the polling to enable voters to exercise their right to vote in a peaceful environment
