Shahvir Kadwani Faces Criticism Over Urdu Pronunciation in Mohabbat

Actor Shahvir Kadwani has faced criticism on social media over his pronunciation of the Urdu word “fakhar” (pride) in a scene from his ongoing drama Mohabbat.

Viewers claimed that Kadwani pronounced “fakhar” incorrectly as “fakar”, with the clip prompting comments about his Urdu pronunciation, dialogue delivery and acting performance.

One social media user wrote that actors should learn the correct pronunciation of Urdu words before appearing in dramas, adding that mispronouncing “fakhar” could change its meaning.

Several other viewers also questioned Kadwani’s Urdu pronunciation, with some arguing that actors should work on their pronunciation before taking on drama roles. Some users specifically pointed to his difficulty with the “kh” sound, while others debated whether certain actors’ Urdu pronunciation is influenced by Bollywood or Western media.

Some comments were particularly harsh, with users calling the performance “disgusting” and one person telling Kadwani to improve his pronunciation or leave acting.

The criticism also extended to his casting in Mohabbat. Some social media users linked his casting to his father, producer Abdullah Kadwani, with one commenter suggesting that having a producer as a father can make opportunities easier to secure. Others called Kadwani a “nepotism kid” and claimed that his performance could negatively affect the drama.

Kadwani’s acting and dialogue delivery also became a subject of mockery. Some users sarcastically praised his performance, while others said they felt embarrassed watching the scene. One commenter questioned whether his delivery was intended to appear tough, while another suggested that someone else could have played the role.

Other viewers continued to mock the scene, with one joking that a bag delivered the best performance. Another user again linked Kadwani’s casting to his father’s position as a producer.

The pronunciation also became a talking point on social media, with one X user joking that they initially thought the drama had used the F-word before realising Kadwani had actually said “Fakhar.” Another user wrote “I am proud,” seemingly playing on the meaning of “Fakhar” while mocking the pronunciation.

Kadwani is part of the cast of Geo TV’s ongoing drama Mohabbat, where he plays Zarrar alongside Feroze Khan, Nawal Saeed, Aina Asif and Savera Nadeem. The drama, which premiered on September 28, 2026, follows the lives of two brothers from a wealthy family.

Yahya falls in love with Asiya, a middle-class woman working at his office, while his brother Zarrar marries his friend Meherma after she proposes to him as a way to escape her personal problems.
