Indian Army Faces Questions Over Repeated Claims About Kashmiri Youth Killing

Indian security forces have been accused of making contradictory claims about the killing of a Kashmiri youth, according to the Kashmir Media Service (KMS).

KMS reported that the Indian Army has claimed several times that a person named Musa was killed, found alive, and then killed again in separate incidents.

On April 25, 2025, police reportedly released sketches of Hashim Musa, who was described as an alleged attacker in the Pahalgam incident. On June 23, 2025, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) reportedly rejected the Jammu and Kashmir Police sketches as incorrect.

KMS said that on September 28, during Operation Mahadev, Indian forces again claimed to have killed Musa in an encounter. On September 29, reports again emerged about the alleged killing of the same Kashmiri youth.

Political experts have accused Indian media outlets of spreading fake news and said they have faced criticism internationally over such reporting.
