Netflix Announces New Bridgerton Series Focusing on Young Violet Bridgerton

A new limited series featuring a younger version of Violet Bridgerton is in development, Netflix and Shondaland have announced, expanding the world of Bridgerton.

The update was shared on Instagram on Thursday, with the post disclose that the upcoming series will discover the romance between a young Violet Bridgerton and Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. Violet has been represented by English actress Ruth Gemmell throughout the first four seasons of the original Netflix series.

The post read, confirming that the new project is now in development, “The time has come for us to turn our attention to the Matriarch of our beloved Bridgertons.”

Although its official title has not been announced, the series will become the newest spin-off in the Bridgerton franchise.

Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini, who previously worked on the spin-off Queen Charlotte, will serve as the new show’s showrunners, writers and executive producers.

Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling book series, Bridgerton follows the romantic lives of different members of the Bridgerton family during the Regency era.

The season 5 of Bridgerton production is underway in London. The season will center on Francesca Bridgerton, played by Hannah Dodd, and Michaela Stirling, portrayed by Masali Baduza.

Bridgerton has turn out to be a global sensation since its 2020 debut, winning viewers over with its romance, lavish outfits and diverse cast. Now, the coming season focused on Violet is a hint of series fans to look a closer look at the family’s past history and the romance that shaped its matriarch.
