IRGC Warns Ships in Hormuz Against Switching Off Navigation Systems

According to the IRGC Navy’s public relations office, the tanker was attempting to leave the strait carrying crude oil when it hit the mine, triggering an explosion and a fire in its engine room. The statement alleged that the vessel had switched off its navigation systems and violated maritime regulations by using an unauthorized route.
The IRGC Navy said the incident marked the third such occurrence since the previous day involving non-compliant oil tankers striking naval mines and catching fire while navigating unauthorized routes. It reiterated that all vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz must keep their navigation and identification systems active, warning that any ship violating this requirement would be identified as hostile and dealt with firmly.
