Iran Warns Ships in Strait of Hormuz, Says US Must Fulfil Commitments

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Iranian operations in the Strait of Hormuz would continue, stressing that the United States must understand that the crisis has no military solution. He added that Tehran was working to have a maritime agreement between Iran and Oman registered internationally, clarifying that the registration of the agreement would not automatically mean the reopening of the strategic waterway.
Gharibabadi said the United States would have to fulfil its commitments for the Strait of Hormuz to reopen. He also confirmed that Iran was reviewing US proposals and would communicate its position through mediators. His remarks underscore Tehran’s position that progress on maritime access depends on diplomatic commitments and the resolution of outstanding issues.
