Russell Brand Faces Court as Jury Hears Woman’s Allegations

A police statement from a woman accusing British actor and comedian Russell Brand has accused her sexual assaulted, presented to the jury during his ongoing trial in London. She claimed that Brand led her to a toilet at a London bar during a party in 2004, and sexually assaulting her there.

As per Reuter’s reports, the woman said she worked at MTV and had hoped to meet Brand after watching him on television. According to her statement, Brand took hold of her arm and took her to a nearby toilet during their conversation at the party.

The woman also claimed in the statement that Brand held her by the head and hair against her will, leaving her terrified and unable to do anything at that time. According to her statement, the incident happened within a minute of their first meeting.

In court hearing, Brand’s lawyer asked her account, disagreeing that other people at the bar might have seen the incident if it had happened as she described. She told the court that she began referring to the incident as rape only after reports about Brand appeared in the media in 2023. She clarified that she had kept silent for years because she afraid of public conclusion and felt humiliated.

Brand is fronting charges connecting six women over alleged cases between 1999 and 2009. The charges contain three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of offensive assault. He has deprived of all the accusations.

In a statement to police after his arrest, Brand said he had never engaged in sexual activity with anyone without their consent. He also suggested that the women might have remembered the alleged incidents differently over time.

The court will continue to hear evidence and arguments from both sides as the trial proceeds. Brand remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
