Iranian Police Kill Armed Suspect in Gunfight in Sistan and Baluchistan

Following the confrontation, police seized both vehicles and recovered a Kalashnikov assault rifle, four magazines and 77 rounds of ammunition. Authorities continued efforts to identify and apprehend the two fugitives. The incident comes amid a series of counterterrorism operations in the province, where security forces and government officials have faced armed attacks in recent weeks.

On October 12, police announced the dismantling of a suspected terrorist cell linked to recent killings, including the death of Colonel Nosrat Eftekhari and injuries to two other officers. On October 11, security forces arrested three alleged members of the Jaish al-Adl group in Chabahar and Dashtiari County, recovering weapons and ammunition from a suspected safe house. Iran’s Intelligence Ministry also reported on October 6 that three operational cells linked to a Takfiri militant group had been dismantled before carrying out planned attacks in Sistan and Baluchestan and Hormozgan provinces, leaving two suspects dead and 10 others arrested.
