During a cordon and search operation in Turkwangam area of the district, they extra judicially killed the youth.

Earlier, in mainland India, a Hindu organisation Mahasangh has plotted to occupy Muslim mosques.

In their bid to gain control over almost all religious places especially mosques, they have filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

Mahasangh challenged a provision of a 1991 law that maintains the religious character of holy structures as they existed on August 15, 1947, before the Partition.

The petition has sought directions from the top court to declare Section 4 of the 1991 Act as ultra vires.

Hindu outfit wants court to declare it beyond its legal power or authority, and unconstitutional.

At present, the law does not allow the conversion of a temple into a mosque and vice versa.

Meanwhile, former Indian police chief has backed arming Hindus in Kashmir valley.

Shesh Paul Vaid has advocated arming and training Hindus and creating so-called Village Defence Committees (VDCs) in the Kashmir Valley.

People cite notoriety of such committees are for killing innocent Muslims in Jammu and border areas of Poonch and Rajouri districts.

The former Director General Police created controversy in a media interview.

He said that that all arming Hindus in the Kashmir Valley would boost their sense of security.

He sees no no harm in giving arms training and providing weapons to the minority Hindu community ….in the Kashmir valley.

Former Indian DGP Paul Vaid admitted how he as the SSP of Udhampur in 1995 was instrumental in forming the first VDC in Bagankote village, then a part of Udhampur district.
