SCO asks Azerbaijan and Armenia to begin talks over Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Secretary General Vladimir Norov of SCO said this in a statement on the escalation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

According to the statement which SCO Secretariat issued in Beijing, he said SCO hope that the opposing parties will soon step back from using force.

He further said SCO hope they would begin negotiations based on the principle of peaceful resolution of disputes for the sake of ensuring security and stability in the region.

He confirmed readiness to further expand multilateral and multi-sectoral cooperation with Azerbaijan and Armenia as our partners in the SCO dialogue in the context of strengthening mutual trust, friendship and neighborly relations across Eurasia..

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) remains extremely concerned with the developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

Meanwhile, representatives of the leading financial institutions from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states took part in a roundtable discussion on developing recommendations for the gradual shift to payments in national currencies.

Russia organized the event as part of its SCO Presidency. SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sherali Jonon attended the event.

He noted the relevance and active cooperation of the countries in the area of national currency payments, according to a press statement issued by SCO Secretariat here.

SCO in international currency system

In his remarks, he stressed that this sort of financial cooperation can strengthen economic, trade and investment exchanges between the SCO countries.

Besides, he called for a solid foundation for the expedited development of the regional economic integration within the SCO.

This cooperation can boost the international status of the national currencies of the SCO countries.

Moreover, it can facilitate a multi-polar development of the international currency system and support the SCO’s regional economic security.

It will also contribute to the development and unfolding of the SCO members’ financial industry.

Furthermore, it will also boost their capacities when it comes to trading financial resources on the international market, SCO Deputy Secretary-General emphasised during his remarks.

The participants discussed the current state of mutual payments between the SCO countries.

They also exchanged opinions on the prerequisites, stumbling blocks and possibilities of shifting to mutual payments in national currencies.
