PBS tasked to compare wholesale and retail prices of essential food items regularly.
Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin has assigned the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics to adopt this practice.
He asked PBS for regularly comparing the difference in wholesale and retail prices of essential food items in different districts across the country.

Tarin issued these directives, while addressing an introductory meeting at Ministry of Finance in Islamabad today.
He further suggested addressing the root cause of inflation with devising a new hierarchy of administrative control.
Furthermore, he said that proposed control will provide the most needed relief to the masses.
The Minister said that the data, if available on real time basis on the PBS dash-board, will help in maintaining the strategic reserves of the essential commodities across the country.
