Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri issued a statement on Afghanistan situation today.

He called upon the Afghan leaders to work together to address the evolving situation.

He further suggested to craft a way forward for sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The spokesman said that Pakistan has consistently emphasized a political solution as indispensable.

Pakistan will continue to play its constructive role in promoting this goal.

The spokesperson noted that achieving lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan and bringing an end to the four-decades long conflict is a shared responsibility of the international community.

Moreover, he hoped the collective efforts will help bring lasting peace, progress and prosperity to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan will present its stance on the current situation following consultations in the meeting.

In a statement, he also mentioned an important meeting with Afghan delegation in Foreign Office today.

Pakistan aims to move forward the peace process.

On the other hand, Taliban has taken Kabul without battle as President Ashraf Ghani fled Afghanistan on Sunday.

President Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan on Sunday following hours of negotiations for a peaceful transition of power.
