by-elections in 60 days if PTI resigns from Assemblies – Election Commission

PTI resignations from all assemblies will bring by-elections on all vacant seats
Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) by- elections in 60 days if PTI quits
5 Crore to 7 crore required for holding a single seat by-election 

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday declared that by-polls will be held within 60 days if mass resignations were served in Punjab and KP assemblies.

ECP said by-polls would be held under constitutional procedure if any provincial assembly is dissolved.The by-elections in 411 provincial constituencies will be held in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The dissolution of provincial legislatures with complete cost will be Rs22 billion approximately,ECP added.

The ECP described that the public representatives are elected for a tenure of five years and if their seats get vacant due to any reason, they are filled through by-polls within two months.The ECP official acknowledged that it would be difficult to hold by-polls and general elections in the same year but added that the Commission was bound by the law to carry out the task.
