At least 30 killed due to collisions between trains near Ghotki today (Monday).

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Railways said the accident occurred when the bogies of Millat Express train, going from Karachi to Sargodha, derailed.

Those derailed bogies crossed onto the opposite rail track. The Sir Syed Express train coming from Rawalpindi crashed into the derailed train.

More than than fifty people injured in the mishap.

Moreover, the Police sources said four bogies of Millat Express completely destroyed in the accident.

Death toll may rise due to fatal wounds of the inured passengers.

Meanwhile, Relief and rescue efforts continue at the train’s accident site near Ghotki.

According to the ISPR, Army and Rangers troops have reached incident site.

They were also carrying out relief and rescue operation.

Besides, military doctors and paramedics along with ambulances also reached at incident site.

On the other hand, Pakistan Railways said a relief train has also arrived at the scene of the accident.

Army jawans and helicopters were carrying out search and rescue along with the Railway officials, rescue services, police and the local administration.

Furthermore, the Railways spokesperson said they set up helpline centres for passengers in Karachi, Sukkur, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan said in he was shocked to hear about the accident and ordered an investigation.

In a tweet, he shared that he had asked the Railway Minister to reach the site and ensure medical assistance.

The PM also asked him to ensure support for the families of the dead.
