Singer Angie Stone, best known for her solo hits like “Wish I Didn’t Miss You”, passed away in a car accident near Montgomery, Alabama, on March 1, 2025, at the age of 63.

Her daughter, Ladi Diamond, whom she shared with Lil’ Rodney C!, confirmed the heartbreaking news on Facebook, writing: “My mommy is gone.”

Angie married Rodney in the early 1980s, and they welcomed Diamond in 1984. The couple divorced four years later. In 1997, Angie had a son, Michael Archer II, known by his stage name Swayvo Twain, with “Send It On” singer D’Angelo.

She began dating D’Angelo in the 1990s when she was in her early 30s, and he was 19. The two met while working on D’Angelo’s debut album Brown Sugar in 1995. They collaborated on songs like Send It On and Everyday, but their relationship ended in 1999.

In 2009, Angie began dating Ashanti Graves, who later became her fiancé. Speaking about him in an interview with Essence, she said, “When we met, we just hugged each other and I knew this was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with…” However, they broke up in 2014 after she discovered he was still married.

Meanwhile, D’Angelo, who passed away almost six months after Angie, also had two other children, Morocco and Imani. He died on October 14, 2025, in New York City after battling pancreatic cancer at the age of 51.

His family released a statement saying, “The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life… Michael D’Angelo Archer… has been called home.”

His son Michael Jr. also shared a heartfelt message, thanking fans for their prayers and adding, “It has been a very rough and sad year for me… both my parents taught me to be strong, and I intend to do just that.”

Sources told People Magazine that Michael Jr. stayed by his father’s side until the end and has been struggling deeply after losing both parents within six months.
