Who is Bryan Andrews? Country Singer Criticizes ICE Openly, Faces ‘Woke’ Backlash

16 October, 2025 13:32

In a video recorded inside a car, Bryan Andrews urgently implored viewers to “wake the f*ck up” as he condemned the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for circulating sensationalized footage of ICE agents forcibly removing individuals from their homes without due process. Andrews criticized those who seemed to take pleasure in these clips and expressed support for ICE’s actions.

The singer directed particularly sharp criticism at certain Christians, stating:
“You don’t get to call yourself a Christian and then advocate and f*cking laugh when families are torn apart outside the courthouses and people trying to come here the right way.”

Andrews expressed deep disgust at being lumped in with these individuals when people think of Christians in America. Drawing a parallel to Jesus’ sacrifice, he asserted that supporters of ICE who celebrate these actions are not true Christians. He accused them of wielding Christianity as a protective guise to rationalize the hatred they harbor.

Following Andrews’ outspoken remarks, numerous MAGA supporters labeled him as “woke” and claimed he had committed “career suicide” by releasing the video. Some noted that they had never heard of Bryan Andrews before and argued that even if he were a country artist, he would be “canceled” now. Comparisons were drawn to the Texas band The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks), who experienced career setbacks after criticizing former President George W. Bush in 2003. Conversely, others applauded Andrews for using his platform to speak against ICE.

Bryan Andrews Acknowledges Backlash but Stands Firm on His Views

Bryan Andrews, 29, from Missouri, initially gained popularity on TikTok through sharing his music. In his anti-ICE video posted Wednesday, Andrews revealed that he is frequently advised to focus solely on his music and avoid politics. However, he stated that he could not remain indifferent to the atrocities he witnessed online and felt compelled to speak out through his art.

He said:
“I know being a country artist, I’m gonna get some backlash for the things I’m about to say. And I know I was risking my career of 40+ years because I didn’t want to feel like I was taking a big step back.”

Andrews admitted regret over not speaking out sooner and expressed willingness to have his label drop him and lose his career rather than stay silent. He concluded the video with a brief preview of his forthcoming socio-political single, set to release on Thursday.
