Govt to release fuel subsidy installments this month

The government has decided to distribute the fifth and sixth installments of its national fuel subsidy scheme within the current month.

The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, where the overall progress of the scheme was reviewed.

The meeting discussed the system for providing fuel subsidies to public transport operators, motorcycle owners, and farmers across the country. Officials also reviewed transparency, accountability, and coordination with provincial governments.

Ishaq Dar said the scheme is aimed at providing direct financial relief to ordinary citizens and people involved in agriculture. He added that all available resources are being used to ensure timely delivery of the subsidies to eligible beneficiaries.

It was formally decided that both instalments will be distributed before the end of the current month.

The deputy prime minister expressed satisfaction over the progress of the fuel subsidy programme and its implementation so far.
