Govt Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices by over Rs13 Per Litre

11 July, 2026 09:01

The federal government has increased the prices of petroleum products for the week starting July 11, making petrol, diesel, and kerosene more expensive across the country.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has gone up by Rs13.18 per litre, taking the new price to Rs310.71 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has increased by Rs13.80 per litre, bringing it to Rs323.30 per litre.

Last week, the government had reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs1.97 per litre each.

The latest increase comes as global oil prices remain volatile due to tensions between the United States and Iran. Although international oil prices fell slightly on Friday, they are still expected to end the week higher.

The conflict has delayed the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, an important shipping route that carries around 20% of the world’s daily oil and gas supplies.

The government has been reviewing fuel prices every week since the conflict began on February 28.

Higher petrol prices increase travel costs for people using cars, motorcycles, and rickshaws, putting extra pressure on household budgets. The increase in diesel prices is also expected to raise transportation and farming costs, which could lead to higher prices for food and other essential goods.
