COAS rejects use of private militias force
Rawalpindi ;Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir said on Friday that the use of force or acts of force by non-state militias, units or groups is unacceptable, according to a military statement.

The Army Chief praised the ‘Paygam-e-Pakistan’ fatwa by religious scholars for nullifying misleading propaganda spread by extremists and terrorists, and urged the scholars to uphold this fatwa in letter and spirit. He urged the public to disseminate and implement the policy to avoid internal divisions. The COAS has clarified the role of ulema in promoting the understanding of the Quran and Sunnah among the youth and promoting character development among other academic knowledge and technical skills. General Munir said there is no place for intolerance or extreme actions in any organization, especially against minorities and vulnerable sections of society.
The forum unanimously supported government measures to strengthen the country, including the repatriation of illegal immigrants, the introduction of a single document system, and measures to combat smuggling, hoarding, and electricity theft.
He also fully recognized Pakistan’s position and concerns about terrorism emanating from Afghan soil and called on Afghanistan to take serious action to address Pakistan’s concerns.
