Pakistani Rupee Gains 28 Paisa Against Dollar as Stock Market Surges
The Pakistani rupee (PKR) posted a slight recovery against the US dollar (USD) during early trading on Monday.
By 11:00 am, the Pakistani rupee had appreciated by 0.1%, reaching 281.43 in the interbank market—an intraday improvement of 28 paisa.
This gain follows a turbulent week, where the rupee fell by 65 paisa, or 0.23%, closing Friday’s session at 281.71, according to figures from the State Bank of Pakistan.
Despite today’s marginal rise, the rupee has lost Rs3.36, or 1.19%, since the start of the current fiscal year. From the beginning of 2025, it has depreciated by Rs3.16, indicating a 1.12% decline against the dollar.
In the open market, the dollar was quoted at Rs282 for buying and Rs283.40 for selling.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) displayed strong upward momentum, with the KSE-100 Index climbing over 9,900 points in early trading on Monday.
In another development, gold prices in Pakistan are expected to fall today, following a drop in global gold rates.
