Election 2024: PML-N top leadership can’t vote for ‘lion’

07 February, 2024 16:04

In a bizarre turns of event, the top leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won’t be able to cast their votes for their party’s candidate on the National Assembly seat on February 08.

That is due to the seat adjustment with debutant Istehkam-e-Pakistan (IPP) in NA-128.

PMLN chief Nawaz Sharif, former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz are registered in NA-128.

They said that in NA-128, the PML-N had not fielded any candidate for the National Assembly seat and announced support for IPP leader Aun Chaudhry whose election symbol is “eagle”.

However, the trio will vote for party candidate Umar Sohail in PP-161.

According to Ishaq Dar, the PML-N candidates will contest on 212 NA constituencies across the country on February 8.

PML-N chief Nawaz will contest polls in NA-15 (Mansehra) and NA-130 (Lahore) constituencies. His daughter Maryam Nawaz will be contesting from NA-119.

Hamza Shehbaz will try his luck from NA-118 Lahore, while PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the election from NA-123 and NA-132.
