Alexia Jayy Wins The Voice Season 29 Finale on NBC, Releases New Single “Rent Free”

Rising singer Alexia Jayy has been crowned the winner of The Voice Season 29, following the grand finale aired on April 14 on NBC. The season concluded with its special “Battle of Champions” edition, showcasing top-tier performances.

Mentored by Adam Levine, Jayy secured first place after consistently impressive performances throughout the competition. Her vocal strength and stage presence set her apart from fellow finalists.

The runners-up included Lucas West from Team John Legend, along with Mikenley Brown and Liv Ciara from Team Kelly Clarkson.

Following her win, Jayy is preparing to release her debut single “Rent Free” on April 15. The track has been produced by Grammy-winning producers Jack Splash and Jim Jonsin.

Speaking about the song, she said, “‘Rent Free’ is about knowing your worth. Sometimes people don’t realise what they had until it’s gone, and by then you’ve already moved on. But somehow, you’re still the one on their mind.”

Jayy first gained attention during her Blind Audition, where she performed “(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman”, earning chair turns from all three coaches. She chose Levine as her coach and advanced with standout performances such as “Nightshift”, “You Give Good Love”, and “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Loved You)”.

During the finale, she delivered performances of “Lady Marmalade” and “One and Only”, and also performed a duet of “Sunday Morning” alongside Levine before being announced as the winner.

Originally from Mobile, Jayy has been passionate about music from a young age. She has previously shared the stage with Lauryn Hill and worked as a backing vocalist for Muni Long.

A mother of two, Jayy has often spoken about how her life experiences shape her music, including her song “Who Raised You”. Her victory marks a major milestone as she begins a new chapter in her professional music career.
