Kirti Kulhari Becomes Latest Celebrity Hit by Cyber Fraud
Indian actress Kirti Kulhari has fallen victim to a cyber-fraud scam, becoming the latest celebrity to be targeted, with unauthorized transactions worth Rs 2,43,852 made using her credit card.
The 41-year-old has come within reach of Mumbai Police, and a case has been registered against anonymous persons.
The incident came to light while Kirti was at a multiplex near Fun Republic Mall in Andheri West.
The Shaitan actor got an alert on her phone about a foreign transaction of $2,525 on Aeromexico Airlines through her card, something she had not authorised.
She called her bank’s customer care right away, and during verification, officials found four separate unauthorised transactions had gone through, totalling the Rs 2.43 lakh loss.
The bank blocked her card instantly to discontinue further misapplication.
She later move toward Amboli Police Station and filed a complaint, and an FIR was registered under cyber fraud provisions.
In her complaint, Kirti maintained that she had never shared any of her banking or credit card details with anyone.
Authorities suspect the fraud involved malware or spyware which affecting her phone or banking credentials, but the investigation is still ongoing.
The Cyber Cell is now handling the investigation alongside local police, going through bank reference numbers and transaction records to trace the culprits.
On work, Kirti was last seen in the web series Shekhar Home. She recently covered shooting her first feature film as a producer, sharing an emotional note about the journey with fans on social media.
