The animated reboot of Pakistan Television’s most popular classic drama ‘Aynak Wala Jinn’ has sparked controversy even before it was aired. The creator and writer of the drama, Hafeez Tahir, has claimed that his original concept was used without permission, which he is deeply upset about.

In his statement, Hafeez Tahir said that ‘Aynak Wala Jinn’ was a drama that captivated an entire generation. According to him, everyone from the Prime Minister’s children to children from ordinary homes used to wait for this drama during that era and each episode of it was extremely popular.

Recently, PTV released glimpses of the animated version of ‘Aynak Wala Jinn’, in which famous characters were presented in animation form. However, Hafeez Tahir expressed strong reservations about this project, saying that the reboot was made without his permission.

There has also been a debate on social media about this issue. Actor Umair Rana advised Hafeez Tahir to take the matter to a legal forum and the Artists Collective Trust (ACT).

Several users conveyed unity with Hafeez Tahir, in dispute that intellectual property rights are not given sufficient prominence in Pakistan and calling for legal action. Another user stated that his grandfather A. Hameed was a co-creator of the drama and said those behind the project should face legal action. Many users online demanded that the rights of the original creators should be recognized and safeguarded.
