FM Qureshi rejects talks between Pakistan India thru backdoor channels.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has categorically rejected the speculations of any secret talks between Pakistan and India.

In an interview with TRT, he also turned down talks through back-door channels or third party including the United Arab Emirates.

While talking to the Turkish television network, he said the UAE has good relations with the two South Asian nuclear states, but he added no such talks going on.

However, he said that Pakistan never shied away from talks although India has been shying away from the dialogue.

The FM said Pakistan is willing for talks but India will have to create a conducive environment.

He further said India vitiated environment through its unilateral August 5, 2019 action in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. That deprived the Kashmiris of their fundamental rights.

While answering a question, he noted peaceful and stable Afghanistan in the interest of Pakistan.

All institutions on same page

Shah Mahmood said that the Government in Pakistan and all state institutions stay on the same page on the issue.

To another question, he said Pakistan’s influence in Afghanistan or over Afghanistan Taliban is exaggerated.

However, he called for not blaming the Taliban for all ills in Afghanistan.

Qureshi noted other spoilers from within and outside who do not want peace in Afghanistan as well as in the region.

Moreover, he said we don’t want any terrorist organization to gain footholds in the region.

For that reason, he said, we have been playing our role and have also started fencing of the our border with Afghanistan to regulate the border crossings.
