Great James Anderson achieves unique feat

England great James Anderson is ageing like a fine vine as he achieved yet another feat in his illustrious career.

He became the first pacer ever to claim 700 Test wickets, and only the third bowler ever to reach this milestone.

Only Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and late Shane Warne (708) have more wickets then the England legend.

Anderson achieved this feat against India on Saturday, when he removed Kuldeep Yadav in the morning session in Dharamsala.

No specialist bowler of any type has played more Tests than Anderson, who is currently playing his 187th match of a career.

He made his debut against Zimbabwe at Lord’s in May 2003, nearly 21 years ago.

Anderson is nearly 100 wickets clear of the next most-prolific seam bowler in Test history, his long-term England partner Stuart Broad (604). Broad retired at the end of last summer’s Ashes.

Zimbabwe’s Mark Vermeulen was Anderson’s first Test wicket.

Since then, his landmark victims have been South Africa’s Jacques Kallis (100th), Australia’s Peter Siddle (200th), New Zealanders Peter Fulton and Martin Guptill (300th and 400th respectively), and West Indies’ Kraigg Brathwaite (500th).

Pakistan’s Azhar Ali was his 600th victim in Test cricket.
