Imad Wasim comes out of retirement

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has come out of retirement after meeting with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The left-hander announced his decision on X stating that he is available for Pakistan selection in T20I format.

“I am happy to announce that pursuant to meeting PCB officials, I have reconsidered my retirement and am delighted to declare my availability for Pakistan cricket in T20I format leading up to ICC T20I World Cup 2024,” wrote Imad on X.

“I would like to thank the PCB for reposing trust in me and I would give my very best to bring laurels to my country. Pakistan comes first,” he added.

Following the conclusion of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, top PCB officials wants to meet the man of the match recipient in the final.

Hence, he was invited to the PCB headquarters in Lahore to discuss his future plans.

Imad was exceptional with the bat and produced a masterclass performance with the ball during the knockout games for the Islamabad United, who clinched their third title.

Despite playing his last T20 International for Pakistan against New Zealand in Rawalpindi a year ago, Imad has consistently stated that his retirement is not definitive, and he is willing to come back to international cricket when needed.

He is now likely to attend Pakistan team’s training camp in the Military academy.

The left-hander made his international debut in May 2015 against Zimbabwe and has played for Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is. He has taken 109 wickets and scored 1,472 runs in his international career.
