Iran deserves congrats over Israel strikes: Mushahid

Paying tribute to Iran over unprecedented attack on Israel, a senior Pakistan politician has said that the retaliatory airstrikes on Tel Aviv deserves congratulations on demonstrating will, capacity and courage.

Taking to X, formerly known as twitter, Mushahid Hussain Sayed urged Pakistan and all the other Muslim countries to stand with Iran, telling the the US to rein in Israel.

 

The senior politician termed Netanyahu, as a certified war criminal.

Mushahid Hussain further wrote: “Myth of Israeli invincibility has been shattered after 50 years!first time since October 1973 Arab-Israeli War when Egypt & Syria launched war against Israeli occupation of their territories, with Pakistan Air Force pilots fighting with Syrian Air Force under direction of then Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.”

He added: “Good that a Muslim country has shown it can hit back against Israeli aggression, especially when Israel has been carrying out #Gaza_Genocide with impunity!.”

The UN Security Council is all set to hold an emergency meeting today over Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel, says the body’s president.

The UNSC meeting will be held at 4pm (8pm GMT) today at Israel’s request, a spokesperson for Malta told media.

Currently, Malta holds the rotating presidency of UNSC for this month.

In a letter to the Security Council president, Israel’s envoy to the UN termed the Iran’s air assault as flagrant violation of Israel’s sovereignty.

Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan wrote that today Iran has launched a direct attack from within its territory of over 200 drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles towards Israel. He added that the attack was a dangerous and severe escalation.

Ambassador Erdan urged the UN Security Council to condemn Iran for these serious violations and designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IGRC)  as a terrorist organisation.

Earlier, Iran late on Saturday launched an air attack on Israel with over 200 drones and missiles, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed.

The IRGC said the action was taken under the operation “True Promise”, adding that the move was part of the punishment for “Israeli crimes”.

Sirens sounded in many places and blasts heard in the skies above Jerusalem early on Sunday, international media reported as Iran’s proxies and allies carried out coordinated attacks on Israeli positions.

Israel said the drones would take several hours before reaching its airspace.

The attack come nearly two weeks after Israel attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria leaving seven IRGC members dead.

“We launched an operation using drones and missiles in response to the Zionist entity’s crime of targeting the Iranian consulate in Syria,” the IRGC said in a statement.

“The operation was carried out with dozens of missiles and drones to strike specific targets in the occupied territories.”
