LHC asks Centre and Punjab govts to report on supply of masks and sanitizers.

Lahore High Court direced the feedral and Punjab govermnemnts to submit report on supply of masks and sanitizers.
The court issued this order today (Tuesday).  

Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh  headed LHC bench heard the petition. 
Some elements took advantage of Coronavirus cases in the country to make money through black marketing of masks.

The petitioner raised the issue of shortage of sanitizers and masks in market. 
He noted shortage amid rise in coronavirus related cases in Pakistan.

LHC had earlier issued a written interim order over a plea. That had sought control on rapid hike in prices of surgical masks after detection of novel coronavirus cases in the country.
The petitioner made Punjab government and other concerned departments respondents in the petition.

The high court in its interim order sought reports from the federal and Punjab government over shortage and soaring prices of masks.
However, when court asked, the government’s lawyer told that mostly the masks being imported.
Raid in Rawalpindi

A team of officials conducted raid in Rawalpindi and recovered a stock of masks with Chinese citizens involved in hoarding.
A government official informed the bench about this hoarding of masks that valued around Rs 15 million. 
 
The court directed the authorities concerned that police should not keep the seized masks as case property.
Officials concerned assured the court to ensure handover of the the seized masks to hospitals for doctors.
LHC bench also asked about compliance of its order about fixation of the price of masks.
 Because, the official of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) informed the court no decision taken in this regard so far.
