Islamabad : The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has reportedly arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in connection with the Toshakhan case and Al-Qadir fund worth ₹190 million.
The arrest took place at Adiala Prison in Rawalpindi on the orders of the Accountability Court in Islamabad.
The arrest warrant against Imran Khan was issued in connection with the Toshakhana case, which had previously led to a five-year ban from holding public office. The Al-Qadir Trust case, which is currently being investigated, involves allegations of corruption and abuse of power. Imran Khan’s wife was also questioned in connection with this case.
As presiding judge of the court, Justice Muhammad Bashir of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) issued a two-page order authorizing the issuance of the arrest warrant. A team from NAB Rawalpindi led by deputy superintendents Asif and Waqar-ul-Hassan then went to Adiala prison to execute the arrest warrant. However, Imran Khan reportedly refused to meet the NAB team upon their arrival.
After waiting for one and a half hours, the NAB team executed the arrest warrant obtained from the court through the Superintendent of Adiala Prison. The prison director then led the arrest process of Imran Khan.
