No more HR jobs for foreigners in Saudi Arabia

Now the foreigners in Saudi Arabia cannot take up the human resource jobs.

The kingdom has said that human resources jobs in the country are restricted to Saudi citizens as it is seeking to provide more work for its nationals.

This has been confirmed by the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development when a citizen informed it that he had been interviewed by a foreigner working as a human resources specialist at a medical centre.

Meanwhile, the Saudi ministry announced that the second phase of the order localising the consultancy services professions by 40 per cent of the overall manpower has gone into effect.

It added that the first phase came into effect in April last year, stipulating that 35 per cent of the employees in these jobs must be Saudis.

Saudi Arabia, in recent years, has launched a number of initiatives to employ its nationals and replace foreign workers in several fields including telecommunications, education and real estate as part of a labour policy known as “Saudisation”.

Earlier this year, the kingdom has said it would partially localise jobs in engineering sector. The decision will come into effect on July 21 to Saudise 25 per cent of engineering professions in private sector establishments.
