Pakistan Army fully active to contain Coronavirus spread, said Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar said this while addressing a press conference in Islamabad.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan and SAPM on Health Dr Zafar Mirza also accompanied.

Moreover, DG ISPR said that the trust of people is the asset of Pakistan’s armed forces.

He emphasised that everyone will have to act responsibly.

Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar said that Pak army is working with the civil institutions and utilizing all the resources to help quarantine.

He said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has directed the formation for help.

He also shared that medical facilities of all three armed forces have been prepared.

Meanwhile, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan says the government is working on a Financial Stimulus Package to help the labour class and daily wagers.

She was addressing a joint news conference with SAPM Dr Zafar Mirza and DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar in Islamabad on Thursday evening.


Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the package will soon be presented to the Prime Minister for formal approval. She said a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Finance Advisor Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh to devise a plan to avoid economic slowdown in the country.


Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said directions have been given to provincial governments to take strict actions against those elements, who attempt to hoard food and create artificial shortage of edible items.


In his remarks, Director General Inter Services Public Relations Major General Babar Iftikhar said Pakistan’s armed forces are cooperating with federal and provincial governments to protect the nation from covid-19.


He said the armed forces are active and a medical plan of action has been devised to address the issue.


The DG ISPR said the armed forces are also supporting the civil administration at international airports.
Major General Babar Iftikhar lauded Radio Pakistan for creating awareness among masses about drastic effects of coronavirus.
