Pakistan Torkham border with Afghanistan closed from today for all kind of traffic due to Covid-19.

In his tweets today (Tuesday), Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad stated this.

He further said that the government made this decision, keeping in view the directions of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).

The Interior Minister said Torkham Immigration Center on Pak-Afghan border will remain closed till the fresh guidelines of the NCOC.

On the other hand, National Command and Operation Center has expressed grave concern over the violation of Covid-19 related SOPs.

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar presided the NCOC session.

Officials concerned reported violation of the SOPs in restaurants, indoor gymnasiums, wedding halls, transport, markets, tourism and other sectors.

Therefore, the forum decided to impose strict restrictions in case of non implementation of the SOPs.

NCOC protocols for 3,000 Afghan students who are studying in Pakistan

Moreover, the NCOC also announced safety protocols for 3,000 Afghan students. They are studying in different educational institutions of the country.

The NCOC also decided that these students arriving from Afghanistan would undergo 10-day mandatory quarantine.

Pakistan govt would sent the students back to their country in case of positive tests.
