Nation observe death anniversary of famous Urdu poet Ahmad Faraz today (Tuesday).

He passed away on August 25, 2008 at the age of 77 years in Islamabad.

Veteran literary figures rank Ahmed Faraz among the greatest Urdu poets of the current era.

He received Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz during his life for his contribution to poetry and Urdu literature.

The government of Pakistan awarded  posthumously the Hilal-e-Pakistanto him for his contribution to poetry and Urdu literature.

His famous poetry books included: Jana Jana, Pas-e-Andaz-e-Mausam and Nayaft.

Notably, his son Shibli Faraz is serving as information minister in the PM IK-led government.
