Election Commission orders recounting of votes in NA 249 Karachi by election.
The ECP gave the judgment in an application which the PML (N) leader Miftah Ismail filed.

Election Commission directed all the parties to reach Returning Officer Office on Thursday at 9 a.m.
It invited them to remain present there for recounting of votes.

Pakistan Peoples Party’s won the by-election at National Assembly constituency NA-249 Karachi West-II.
Announcing the unofficial results, the winner candidate of the PPP secured 16,156 votes.
District Returning Officer, Nadim Haider further said that Miftah Ismail of PML-N bagged 15,473 votes.
Besides, Amjad Afridi of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf got 8922 votes and stood at 5th position.
The turn out the votes polled remained 21.64 percent.
The seat fell vacant due to resignation of former Federal Minister Faisal Vawda of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf.
Meanwhile, those others contested included: Mustafa Kamal of Pak Sarzameen party and Mohammad Mursaleen of MQM Pakistan.
The voters majority elected Faisal Vawda in the election 2018 from NA-249.
However, situation had changed on the ground since then.
Now, PTI had lost its former allies such as MWM and other local groups.
However, Miftah Ismail challenged the results.
