Dhu Al Hijjah crescent moon sighted in Pakistan

Eid ul Adha 2024 will be celebrated on 17 June after the citing of Dhu Al Hijjah moon, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Friday.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad and was attended by central and zonal committees’ members, and representatives of SUPARCO, Met Office and Ministry of Religious Affairs in attendance.
Meanwhile, sub-committees in Lahore, Peshawar and other cities also convened in their respective areas to gather testimonies.
Eid ul Adha falls on the tenth day of Dhu Al Hijjah, which also marks the Hajj pilgrimmage, and Muslims in Pakistan are expected to celebrate the occassion on June 17, as the moon will likely be sighted today.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries marked the beginning of lunar month on Thursday June 6.
