Sindh Seeks Chinese Investment, Sharjeel Memon Says

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has said the provincial government is taking measures to promote industry and attract foreign investment. Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, he said an investment conference would be held in Shanghai on October 15, with hundreds of Chinese business companies invited. A high-level delegation led by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will travel to China to highlight investment and business opportunities in the province.
Memon said Sindh wants to attract investment from abroad to create employment opportunities and reduce unemployment. He said the provincial government is seeking new projects in cooperation with China, describing Pakistan-China friendship as well established. He also termed Tharparkar coal a potential game changer for Pakistan and said 1,100 new schools are being planned in Sindh.
Commenting on political developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Memon accused Chief Minister Sohail Afridi of making baseless allegations against the PPP and said his statements were regrettable. He claimed that talks in Islamabad were close to producing a result but were subsequently undermined, while describing terrorism as KP’s biggest challenge. Memon also criticised the PTI over its approach to militancy, called on its senior and “serious” leaders to take independent decisions, and said Sohail Afridi would be welcomed whenever he visits Sindh.
