Negotiation committee meeting postponed after PTI team did not turn up

The Speaker of National Assembly postponed the meeting of the negotiation committee today due to non-arrival of PTI, however, it has been decided to maintain the committee.

Speaking before the meeting, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said that it was decided in the last meeting that the meeting will be held again in 7 working days. Today, 7 days have been completed.

He said that we waited for 45 minutes, got a message from them that they will not come. I have contacted PTI members, who said that they will contact their top leadership and then inform him, Sadiq said

He further said that due to the absence of the opposition, the negotiations could not proceed. There is no purpose to continue this meeting, so we are postponing today’s meeting, but my doors are open, I expect negotiations from both sides, he added.

The Speaker announced that the negotiation committee will remain in place without dissolving it.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that if we had come to the meeting, we would have come with something. We have prepared an answer to PTI’s demands. We are making a positive effort to hold talks. There have been talks before, we hope they will come, we will respond and we wanted to respond.
