Pakistan can no longer afford another martial law: Bilawal
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Benazir Bhutto’s life was spent to improve the future of Pakistan.
Bilawal Bhutto, while delivering a lecture at Oxford University, said that despite the restrictions imposed on women, Benazir Bhutto became the prime minister of the country and today the chief minister of Punjab is also a woman.
The PPP chairman said that Pakistan can no longer afford another martial law, adding that the future of Pakistan is linked to the supremacy of the constitution, independent judiciary and journalism.
Bilawal said that mother did not teach revenge, that is why he says that democracy is the best revenge. Benazir Bhutto’s life was spent to improve the future of Pakistan. The people of Pakistan have right to demand a better future.
Speaking at a question and answer meeting of Oxford University President Israr Khan, Bilawal further said that NAB is a draconian law and we are still opposed to it. PPP in Sindh has improved the provision of basic health facilities, he added.
Bilawal Bhutto further said that the security situation in Balochistan is worrisome, Pakistan’s nuclear assets are for its own protection.
