ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday. During the meeting, he briefed the President on the countryโ€™s overall internal and external security situation.

Field Marshal Asim Munir informed the President about the recent security challenges that have emerged due to the aggressive and provocative actions of the Afghan Taliban regime, as well as the measured and strong response by Pakistanโ€™s Armed Forces, according to a statement from the President Secretariat Press Wing.

โ€œPresident Zardari expressed full confidence in the strength, valour, capacity, and preparedness of Pakistanโ€™s armed forces,โ€ the statement added.

The President praised the vigilance and professionalism of the armed forces in protecting the countryโ€™s borders and swiftly repelling cross-border attacks along the Afghan frontier.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan would defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.

Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the cross-border attacks from Afghan territory, calling them a clear violation of Pakistanโ€™s sovereignty. He praised the courage and professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces in responding to these attacks.

The President accused the Afghan Taliban government of repeatedly violating the Doha Agreement and providing safe havens to terrorists. He warned that these terrorists pose a serious threat to the entire region and are destabilizing Pakistan and its neighbors.

President Zardari said the Afghan Taliban have established a monopoly over power and urged Afghan authorities to stop allowing their land to be used for anti-Pakistan activities. He emphasized that such attacks harm regional peace and relations.

He reiterated that Pakistan seeks peaceful and cooperative ties with all neighboring countries. However, he warned that any aggression against Pakistan will be met with a strong and decisive response.
