Modi’s Voter List Manipulation, Election Fraud Exposed
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Karnataka has uncovered a large-scale voter list manipulation ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections in the Aland constituency of Kalaburagi district.
The investigation found that between December 2022 and February 2023, more than 6,000 fake applications were submitted to the Election Commission of India’s portal requesting the deletion of voter names. For each fraudulent deletion request, around ₹80 was reportedly paid, with total payments reaching nearly ₹4.8 lakh.
The SIT discovered that only 24 of the 6,018 applications were legitimate—filed by voters themselves—while the rest were fabricated to remove genuine voters, many belonging to Dalit and minority communities.
The fake applications were traced to a data centre operating in Kalaburagi, where multiple laptops and digital records were used to file the deletions through fake accounts linked to 75 different mobile numbers. Raids conducted by the SIT led to the seizure of seven laptops and documents from the homes of former BJP MLA Subhash Guttedar and his sons, who have denied any wrongdoing.
The revelations have caused a political storm. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi described the SIT findings as confirmation of his earlier “vote theft” allegations, calling it an attack on democracy.
Party spokesperson Pawan Khera said that paying ₹80 per voter to delete names from the list showed how elections were being corrupted under the BJP. The Congress accused the BJP of orchestrating a systematic and funded campaign to manipulate the voter rolls in collusion with elements inside the Election Commission.
The Election Commission has faced criticism for failing to detect the large number of fake deletions and for weaknesses in its online systems. The Karnataka government has constituted the SIT to continue investigating who financed and organized the operation and whether any officials were complicit. The case has raised serious questions about the security of India’s electoral infrastructure and the fairness of recent elections.
As the investigation progresses, there are growing calls for reforms to strengthen the monitoring of voter lists and to ensure transparency in the electoral process. The Karnataka “vote theft” scandal is being seen as one of the most serious challenges yet to the integrity of India’s democratic system.
