No One Above the Law: Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Reacts to Court Verdict

12 December, 2025 16:51

Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry described the decision regarding Faiz Hameed as historic. He said that never before in the history of the Pakistan Army has such an example been witnessed.

According to the minister, the case proceeded on merit for 15 months, during which Faiz Hameed was given full opportunity to present his clarification. He added that Faiz Hameed was ultimately found guilty on four charges and sentenced to 14 years in prison. The minister also stated that Faiz Hameed was provided with a legal team of his own choice throughout the proceedings.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the decision on merit is a victory for the Constitution and a victory for the rule of law. He emphasized that this is not a victory for any government or political party.

The minister accused Faiz Hameed of using his state office for personal gain and stated that his unconstitutional actions plunged the country into a political crisis. He added that Faiz Hameed used force to overthrow governments and install new ones. According to him, the court’s decision has proven that no one is above the law.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated that Nawaz Sharif was removed from office unconstitutionally and that Faiz Hameed continued to engage in political engineering. He further said that arbitrary decisions taken by Faiz Hameed have affected Pakistan for the past eight years.

The minister alleged that one political party was targeted while another was given clear benefits and claimed that the founder of PTI benefitted from this nexus. He added that attempts were made to create hatred between state institutions, and statements from the PTI founder also contributed to efforts to create conflict among institutions.
