Fire Breaks Out at Al Najeebi Electronic Market in Karachi’s Saddar Area

A fire broke out at Al Najeebi Electronic Market in Karachi’s Saddar area on Tuesday, triggering panic among shopkeepers and visitors. The market is widely known for selling mobile phones and electronic accessories.
According to initial reports, the fire erupted suddenly and spread rapidly to several shops within the market. Fire brigade teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and are currently engaged in efforts to bring the blaze under control.
So far, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. However, rescue and firefighting operations remain ongoing as authorities work to fully extinguish the fire.
The exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined. Police and local authorities have cordoned off the affected area to prevent further damage and to ensure public safety.
The incident has revived painful memories of a major fire that broke out on the night of January 17, 2026, at Gul Plaza on MA Jinnah Road in Karachi. That fire rapidly engulfed the multi-storey commercial building and continued for more than 36 hours.
The Gul Plaza blaze resulted in 79 deaths, with many others injured or reported missing, making it one of the deadliest fire disasters in Karachi’s recent history.
Authorities have once again stressed the need for improved fire safety measures in commercial markets across the city.
