Karachi Traffic Plan Announced for March 2 Amid Road Closures

KARACHI, March 2, 2026 – The Karachi Traffic Police has issued a special traffic plan for District South due to security arrangements on Sunday. Several key roads will remain closed for general traffic throughout the day.

Major Roads Closed in District South

According to the traffic police spokesperson, MT Khan Road from PIDC to Mai Kolachi Road up to the railway crossing will remain closed for regular vehicles. The restrictions are being enforced for security reasons.

Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.

Alternative Routes for Clifton and Bilawal House Area

Citizens traveling from Bilawal House and Clifton toward Jinnah Bridge via Mai Kolachi Road should take the route from Three Swords, Clifton Bridge, Metropole, and Fountain Chowk. From there, they can turn left toward Shaheen Complex to reach their destination.

Traffic police have deployed personnel at major intersections to guide drivers.

Routes for Mauripur and Boat Basin Traffic

People coming from Mauripur to Boat Basin are advised to use Jinnah Bridge and then turn left toward I. I. Chundrigar Road.

Meanwhile, vehicles arriving from ICI Chowk can use the road near Katiyana Memon Hospital and proceed via Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road.

Shahrah-e-Faisal Diversion Plan

Drivers traveling from Shahrah-e-Faisal toward Jinnah Bridge should turn right from PIDC and pass through Shaheen Complex before reaching I. I. Chundrigar Road.

Police Urge Cooperation

The Karachi Traffic Police has requested citizens to cooperate and plan their travel in advance. Motorists are advised to follow traffic updates and use designated alternative routes to prevent congestion.

Authorities said the special traffic plan will remain in effect for the day, and normal traffic flow will resume once security arrangements conclude.
