Severe Heatwave Persists in Sindh and Balochistan as Temperatures Surge Up to 45°C Across Pakistan
An intense spell of hot and dry weather continues across Pakistan, with Sindh and Balochistan experiencing severe heatwave conditions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The Met Office predicted that temperatures in Turbat may reach 45°C, while Mithi, Jacobabad, and Nawabshah could see highs of around 44°C. In other cities including Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana, temperatures are expected to rise up to 42°C.
In Karachi, temperatures have slightly dropped compared to the previous day; however, the city will still experience hot and dry conditions, with mercury expected to reach 38°C, the Met Office said on Wednesday.
Authorities warned that another heatwave is expected in Sindh starting from May 7, while Karachi may experience another surge in temperatures from May 13. The weather department also stated that there is “no possibility of rainfall in the city in May” based on current meteorological data.
The Met Office has advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to reduce health risks.
Karachi recently experienced one of the hottest days of the season, when temperatures exceeded 40°C due to disrupted sea breezes and strong hot winds. The extreme conditions have already resulted in multiple heat-related fatalities in the city, raising serious public health concerns.
